Branding yourself is a uniquely personal, uncomfortable and exciting project to tackle. This project brief was presented as a prompt to identify my belief systems and dive into what drives me as a designer and human, and furthering that self exploration by defining 10 tools that are essential to my design process. These 10 tools turned into an icon set that became the base of my visual brand, expanding to include a logo and simple animations.
My set of deliverables is based around a 32-page Japanese stab-bound zine. The zine is interactive and prompts readers to respond to questions about their own belief systems, tools, and self-reflection. It comes packaged with a set of expressive stickers to customize and annotate the book, challenging the notion that books are precious objects—the goal is to create an exercise in discomfort, creativity, self-exploration, and collaboration between author and audience. The zine is also adapted into an interactive website to bring life into the icon characters and create an accessible experience for everyone.
