nice to meet you!

i’m eme!

I just graduated (feels weird to put that in writing) in May 2021 with a BFA in graphic design and a minor in printmaking from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. My coursework over the last four years has included drawing, painting, sculpture, typography, multidisciplinary design, bookmaking, and various types of printmaking. I spent a semester studying design in Venice, Italy and learning how to exist outside of Boston. My favorite media include gouache, relief printing, and bookbinding. I think all artists are messy to a degree, but I love being covered in ink and paint and feeling like a kid while I’m creating. If you’re not having fun with the process, what’s the point?

some context

I grew up in Dartmouth, MA, about an hour south of Boston. Both of my parents are architects, so I got my artistic start playing with my mom’s paint swatches and drawing blind contours with my dad as a kid. Some of my favorite things to do outside of visual arts include rock climbing, cooking, studying Arabic, hiking and spending time outside, annoying my dog, and wandering through art museums. I will gladly play Mariokart Wii at any hour of the day, I think the color orange is underrated, and I’m literally obsessed with risograph printers.

looking forward

I’ve had my fair share of diverse design experiences, but I’m not sold on a singular career goal. I’m not exactly sure where I’ll be a year from now, but my mind is staying open and I’m excited to see what I end up pursuing. In general, I want to be able to use design as a positive force and contribute to the environments and communities around me in a productive and beautiful way (a little sappy, but you get the idea).

i love design :)
